Laurie Goldsmith Project returns to Sherborn

Dover-Sherborn Hometown Weekly July 31, 2025

The Laurie Goldsmith Project returned to the Sherborn Library lawn last Wednesday, July 23 to cap off the Sherborn Library Summer Concert Series. This beautiful Wednesday evening brought forth a warm evening mixed with the sounds of blues, folk, jazz, country and reggae. Attendees delighted in the groups variety of original tracks and covers that were played throughout the evening, including a cover of "Unchain My Heart" by Joe Cocker and a fan favorite original track, titled, "Runaway Train". On behalf of their range of sound, Goldsmith remarked "We play music from all different genres because we like all different types of music." There was truly a song and a sound that was for everyone that attended this final show in the series. Laurie Goldsmith, the front runner in the band who both sings and plays the lead guitar, is an award-winning songwriter, a multi-instrumentalist, and a popular freelance musician in the Boston area and has been for over thirty years. Though she now resides in Vermont. Apart from vocal and guitar, Goldsmith plays bass, piano, harmonica, and percussion. Apart from Goldsmith, the group consisted of a saxphone player named Ririka Takushige, an upright bassist named Tal Shalom, and a drummer Diane Gately. This powerhouse group rocked the last show of the series, creating an inviting atmosphere filled with delightful summer sounds. Attendees antcipate their return to the series next summer. “Working with Laurie on her records, is like being with that cool person you wish you grew up with. Her music transports listeners and easily moves through an abundance of styles. Whether she’s serenading you, laying down some deep blues, or kicking it at the roadhouse, it feels perfectly natural because Laurie always come from the heart.“ Dana White, owner and engineer, Specialized Mastering  ”
